Welcome to DashXL™!  This dashboard editor allows you to fully customize your dashboard layout to fit your personal needs and style.  You can add and delete objects, change their locations on the dashboard, and even add pictures from your computer to your dashboard view.

Each gauge is composed of several elements to allow for maximum customizability, from ellipses to arcs to rounded rectangles.  For your convenience, gauges are available with their listed shapes and properties in the Example Gauges section.  Or you can create your own from scratch!

When you first load up DashXL™, it will look something like this:

Four windows are open in the view:

• The XY Position window at the top left of the application shows you the coordinates of your mouse.  When your mouse is on the application, you will see crosshairs.  The X coordinate gives the horizontal position of the crosshairs, and the Y coordinate gives the vertical position.  This tool is useful in finding coordinates on the screen to which you would like to move or place an object.  For more information on the coordinate plane, click here.
• The Dashboard Object View window lists the objects on the dashboard.  To edit any object, highlight it in this window.  The objects with the + to the left of them indicate there are more objects below them. To view these objects, click the +. 
• The Needle Tester window at the top right allows you to see how the gauges will look when they are reading a log file.  To use this, check the box to the left of the horizontal scroll bar.  This turns the tester on.  Then drag the arrow back and forth along the scroll bar to see the needles move.
• The Dashboard Object Properties window is where you edit the selected object on the Dashboard Object View window.  You can change the centerpoint coordinates, change the visibility of an object, and more.

These windows will open by default any time you create a new dashboard.  You can turn these windows on and off under the View menu on the menubar.

NOTE:  This is not a click-and-drag editor.  Although there are some basic point-and-click functions, most of the positioning is done by entering the coordinates in the Dashboard Object Properties window.
